FontShop posted their favorite typefaces of ‘09. Pretty nice rundown, including this one called Ingeborg.
Developer Color Picker is a super handy additional color picker for nerds who want to get hex color information. If this doesn’t mean anything to you, skip this post.
This is hilarious. And apparently a decent anti-theft device:
Computing gentlemen everywhere can now mask their up-to-dateness with this hardcover book ‘jacket’ for their Macbooks. Your Little Gentleman’s headquarters just placed an order for 500, deploying to our staff immediately upon receipt. From Twelve South’s site is another interesting feature:
“Sitting on a desk or in a dorm room, BookBook looks like nothing more than a vintage hardcover book. Your Mac will be out of sight, even when it is sitting in plain view. This presents a whole new way to protect a MacBook from being stolen – hiding it in plain sight.”

“Our beloved Japanese design agency Nendo brings us yet another gem: a set of globes called Corona..
Rather than the common blue and green, the Corona globes have white oceans and black land masses. Furthermore, the globes show country names, but no borders. The purpose of this simplification was to:
…create a new kind of globe that would be more emotional, rather than simply presenting information.
I love how the designers reduced the amount of information – even though some African countries seem to be missing…?
The globes were designed for Japanese globe manufacturer Watanabe Kyogu.

Whoah, Braun’s back with clocks and watches. Design nerds rejoice!
…contrary to what most people say, I very much believe you can argue about taste. With colleagues and with clients. But no clients are willing to spend money on this debate.
—Interview with Dirk Laucke of Studio Laucke Sieben
Apart from the fact that there’s no reason to develop ugly things, we think it’s important for a product to have integrity, in terms of both content and visual design without any tricks or sleight of hand.
—Dirk Laucke in an interview with Novum
If a major project is truly innovative, you cannot possibly know its exact cost and its exact schedule at the beginning. And if in fact you do know the exact cost and the exact schedule, chances are that the technology is obsolete.

Via my buddy and coworker dbox:
I recently did a google search to see if anyone had “converted” instagram filters to photoshop actions. After not finding any results, I decided to see if I could do it myself. I didn’t get a 100% exact match, but it’s pretty close.
Im starting with “Nashville” then will add more soon. Let me know any feedback. I’ll update this post when I add more.
Update #1: “Earlybird” filter, auto-cropping tools added.
