I must admit I didn’t pay any attention to the recent news about an AI bot playing Jeopardy against humans.  In case you didn’t either, that’s what happened.

I did pay attention to this video, in which is explained and shown the making of Watson (the AI bot)’s  personality.  From a UI geek artist perspective, it’s very interesting.

My early-days computer geek buddy and former classmate Eli did a TED talk.  It’s relevant if you use the internet at all, and quite good.  He also was a founder of MoveOn.org.

So, Google+.  So far, kinda whelming.  Most activity is test-oriented and not a lot goes on thus far.  I think their social structure will be better than FB’s, as far as not needing a 1-to-1 ‘friend’ship agreement between everyone in order to be linked.  We’ll see what happens.

This Gimme Bar idea is pretty great.  I can’t help but immediately wonder two things:

  1. There must be some sort of open standard for this concept, right?  The way hCard and hCal represent information, is there something like an hFavorite?
  2. I have a ‘+’ bookmark bar folder and it’s got 11 javascript links in it, each for saving some bit of content to a different repository type of site.  Is Gimme Bar a single solution?

These two things aside, it looks like a good way to pick fruit as you wander around the internet forest.

Little Printer is will be a tiny box, wired to the internets, that can print up a variety of nicely designed information briefs.  Daily digest, social plans, what have you.  Looks interesting, except for the wasteful nature of printing- who doesn’t love a crossword though?  via Michael.
